This Intermediate Forklift Licence (LF) Training Course is designed for people who have had some previous forklift driving experience.
For example you may not have driven for a number of years, or you may have spent minimal time on one recently without having had formal training. Or you may wish to gain experience on our variety of equipment, including our high reach forklift, to further your job prospects.
Class sizes are small (3-4 per class) to ensure the highest quality of training for each individual. Our facility is equipped with 5 different forklifts (both gas and electric) including counter balance forks and reach trucks to ensure participants gain experience on a variety of forklift truck types.

This Intermediate Forklift Licence (LF) Training Course covers the following subjects:
• Accident Awareness • Principal Forklift Components • Forklift Balance and Stability • Safe Working Load (SWL) • Loading and Unloading Racks and Stacks • Forklift Attachments • Refueling • Pre and Post Operational Safety Checks • Practical Forklift Driving and Operation Instruction • Site Risk Assessment • Relevant Victorian OH&S Requirements and Duty of Care
At the end of this Intermediate Forklift Licence (LF) Training Course, participants will receive an:
Interim nationally accredited temporary forklift licence which will allow them to legally drive forklift trucks until they receive their 5 year licence from Work Safe Victoria.
In accordance with requirements by Work Safe Victoria, all participants must be at least 18 years of age and must be able to communicate in basic English.
Participants need to read and become familiar with the forklift training manual which we provide, before their scheduled course
For participants who are not confident with their written English skills, an oral theory assessment is available upon request.
Although, due to WorkSafe requirements, the theory test must be completed in English, we can provide the forklift training manual translated into Chinese and Burmese to assist with learning of the material (unfortunately translations into other languages are not available at this time).
The participant must be able to provide one form of current photo ID (Australian Driver’s Licence, Passport or Key Pass) on the day of testing.
The participant must be able to provide 100 points of ID when lodging the relevant documents at Australia Post after testing.

Start Training is a Registered Training Organisation, RTO No 22381, and authorised by WorkSafe Victoria to assess in HIgh Risk Licensing for LF and LO forklifts and Elevatiing Work Platform.
Start Training’s instructors have been involved in the training industry for over ten years and have a depth of experience drawn from transport, construction, wholesale and retail industry sectors.
Our staff have extensive experience in dealing with people from non English speaking backgrounds and. Equality and ethical treatment of all people is important to Start Training.
Our Facilities
Start Training’s training facility in Kilsyth, Victoria includes a fully equipped 700 square metre simulated warehouse and multiple class rooms. Start Training uses counter balance forklifts as well as reach trucks to ensure the trainees obtain experience on a variety of forklifts trucks.
Our centre is located at 1/114 Merrindale Drive, Kilsyth and is accessible by public transport. Free parking is available.
