About This Training Course

A sound knowledge of occupational health and safety and willingness to practice safe work methods is a prerequisite for working in the construction industry.

This short, half day Nationally accredited OHS Construction Induction - White Card Training Course is a mandatory legal requirement for all persons employed in, contracting to or supplying the construction industry. It also applies to home builders and renovators.

SaSTA conducts one White Card (Construction Industry Induction Card) training program approximately once each two weeks. Check our training calendar for the dates and times of upcoming programs.

If you are looking to work in the construction industry you will be asked to present your White Card to your prospective or new employer or industry regulator inspector. To obtain your white card you will need to:

a. Satisfactorily complete the White Card course to receive your statement of attainment.

b. Apply to the ACT Office of Regulatory Services for issue of the accreditation (fees apply)

Subjects Covered

This Nationally accredited OHS Construction Induction - White Card Training Course will cover the following subjects:

CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry Includes-

Module 1
• The Law, Your Employer and You - OSH, Australian and ACT Laws; Duty of Care; roles and responsibilities, resolution of workplace issues; right to refuse work; workplace policies and procedures and reporting and documentation.

Module 2;
• Managing Risks in the Workplace - Risk management; hazard identification; risk control; contingency & emergency plans and monitor and review processes.

Module 3
• Staying Safe in B&C Industry - Job safety analysis (JSA); health and fitness considerations; accident awareness & prevention; personal protective equipment (PPE); manual handling; equipment & tool safety; smoking, alcohol & drugs and evacuation plans and procedures.

Module 4;
• Environment & Other Considerations - Weather conditions; environmental factors - work site; confined spaces awareness; working at heights; electrical safety and hazardous substance management.

Training Course Outcomes

At the end of this Nationally accredited OHS Construction Induction - White Card Training Course participants will receive a:

• Statement of Attainment - Nationally accredited OHS Induction "Work Safely in the Construction Industry" (White Card)
