The Elevating Work Platform (EWPA Yellow Card - VL,SL & BL Modules Only) Training Course is a nationally recognised industry training program developed by the EWPA in consultation with members and industry.
The EWPA"Yellow" Card program has been around for 18 years it's main aim is to assist Employers,Operators,End-Users in meeting their duty of care under legislation to provide training,instruction and supervision for their workers in the safe use of EWP's.
It also a requirement under the Australian Standard AS2550.10 "Safe use of MEWP's" that only a competent person be involved in the Operation of a MEWP. It is also a Manufacturers requirement that only a trained operator be in involvled in the operation that specific type of EWP under consideration. The cost of the course is $200.00 per person ( gst exempt) for 3 x EWP Modules marked off on the Yellow Card these are SL- Scissorlifts unrestricted, VL-Vertical Mast Lifts unrestricted and BL Self Propelled Boomlifts less than 11mtrs. A negotiated rate will apply for only one or two modules covered off on the EWPA Yellow Card if requested.
The Elevating Work Platform (EWPA Yellow Card - VL,SL & BL Modules Only) Training Course is conducted at JLG Industries Eagle Farm one of world's leading produces of Elevating Work Platforms,Telescopic Handlers etc..the equipment used in the training is the most update on the market which will highlight to the trainee the importance in keeping up to date with technology.
This Elevating Work Platform (EWPA Yellow Card - VL,SL & BL Modules Only) Training Course covers the following subjects:
• The Trainee is introduced to the category of Elevated Work Platform nominated by the trainee/customer. • This instruction session covers the relevant safety features and operating requirements of the chosen category. • The operating procedures, conducting a Pre-Operational Check relevant to Australian Standard AS2550.10 and Manufacturer's Spec's ,Hazard Management,Planning,Preparing work for EWP Operation,OHS Regulations and Duty of Care. • The Emergency Retrieval Systems on the applicable EWP is demonstrated, a practical demonstration is conducted on the EWP including the correct procedures for setting up,operating and shutting down the applicable EWP machine. • A knowledge assessment will be conducted after the initial theory session once this has been completed and reviewed the practical session will follow.
Elevating Work Platform (EWPA Yellow Card - VL,SL & BL Modules Only) Training Course is a registered ticket issued by the EWPA to those operators who have been successfully trained by a EWPA Accredited Trainer in the safe use and operation of various types of EWP's.
There are 5 different types of EWP's listed on the Yellow Card,with those not applicable deleted by the trainer before issue. The categories are:
• Trailer mounted Boom lift (Platform Height Under 11mtrs) • Self Propelled Boom lift (Platform Height Under 11mtrs) • Vehicle Mounted (Travel Towers) less than 11mtrs • Vertical lifts all sizes • Scissor Lifts (Slab/Rough Terrain) all sizes
The Elevating Work Platform (EWPA Yellow Card - VL,SL & BL Modules Only) Training Course requirements and what to bring:
• Over the age of 18 years. • Safety Shoe/Boots • Safety (Hard) Hat • Hi Visibility Vest Clothing ( Long Sleeve shirt ) • Eye Protection • Able to Work at Heights
The Elevating Work Platform (EWPA Yellow Card - VL,SL & BL Modules Only) Training Course is not to be used as a substitute or replacement for the WP-License ( Boom Type EWP's which have a Platform Height greater than 11mtrs) to Perform High Risk Work ie: Vehicle , Trailer-Mounted and Self Propelled Booms.
To work in this High Risk Work occupation the operator must be authorised eg: be in the possesion of the License to Perform High Risk Work-WP Certificate ) or be a trainee who has completed the necessary formal training and is working under the supervision of a Licensed Operator and is running a logbook.
If you are unauthorised you will in breach of WHS Legislation and fines will be imposed by the relevant statutory authorities.
